as u all know the madhya pradesh lok sewa ayog conducts exam for state administrative services. But the matter of fact is dat do the commision needs only the candidates of sociology and public administration.
In the present system a candidate has to choose two subjects from the list of more than eighty subjects. In preliminary exam one subject and one general study (total two) papers r conducted. Now the question arises that how the commission solve the problem of the various subjects having different marks capability. The commission has a scaling method to solve this. Marks of all subjects are scaled using a formula. That where the problem arises,
The scaling method introduced to rectify the problem of selections in a manner that all subjects may have the fair chance to be selected. But the current scenario is that only few subjects mainly sociology and pub. Ad. are mainly there amongst the selected list.
The question is that if the scaling method is there then how could it be possible that some subjects like history, geography , etc been thrown out of the list. Secondly if there is scaling method persists then there are two possibilities that either the there is a hidden policy of not selecting the particular subjects or may be the commission is applying the scaling in a wrong manner,
Whatever it may be but this way they are spoiling the future of thousands of peoples, which may not be accepted. While talking to some senior aspirants they are found saying that due to the ill practice of commission the aspirants of madhya pradesh are very rarely selected in upsc exams.
the thing is that whatever the problem is, the commission should pay attention towards the suggestion and grievences of the aspirant. It should have urged the guidance if needed from upsc or arrange to a committee which can lay down the guidelines for applying scaling method. The factor of transparency is also so important. The commission may follow the example of rajasthan commission which give raw marks as well as scaled marks.
